He specializes in construction of life science, industrial, education, healthcare, water/wastewater treatment facilities and mixed-use projects. Mike places focus on leading teams to high levels of performance on the most challenging projects.
Through the course of his career with Mortenson, Mike has participated in some of the most successful high-end laboratory projects in the region including the University of Washington Benjamin D. Hall Interdisciplinary Science Building, which was one of the first design-build-operate-maintain projects, and Fairview Research Facility in Seattle. Mike is well respected in the construction industry for his broad range of experience with all types of construction coupled with his design expertise and innovative strategies to reduce costs and improve processes. His strategic thinking and ability to complete technically challenging and fast-paced projects, with successful budget and schedule outcomes, are key strengths.
Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from the University of Washington. In addition to being a board member with the Greater Portland Construction Partnership, he is also a board member of the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Oregon Chapter. Mike is a LEED AP and DBIA Associate Professional.
